Washington Wizards – San Antonio Spurs 84-106

Spurs has won for the seventh consecutive time in front of Washington, winning by 106-84 at home.

Since the start of the match, the 2 teams have practiced a tough game. Mike Miller (Wizards) left the field injured and didn’t return until the very end of regular the time. Spurs ruled the first quarter, 27-21 taking advantage of the many mistakes of the Wizards and because of the good game under the hoop, created by Tim Duncan.

In the second quarter, Washington had to wait no less than 2 minutes, until they managed to score. The shortest man on the field, Earl Boykins (1.65 m) had enough trouble scoring with players like Ratliff and Duncan in front of him, who managed recovering the ball 20 times.

Even if the percentage of successful free throws decreased for the hosts too, San Antonio entered the break with an advantage of 12 points, 52-40, with Tony Parker as the best scorer (13 points). The Frenchman went on the field after 4 games because of his ankle problems which managed to keep him on the bench. On the other side, Arenas has managed 33% of the throws, with 4 baskets in 12 attempts.

18 – was theĀ  number of points scored (Gilbert Arenas, Wizards)

The meeting went as bad as it could for Washington, which reached 2 negative terminals: the most dramatic defeat of the season and 7 games without a victory in front of the team of Tim Duncan. Until the final whistle, the Wizards could not match them so those of San Antonio won clearly, by a difference of 22 points, 84-106.

“Even if we didn’t have the best start to the season, we feel it’s better every day and our trust is growing. Over 2 days we have a match with Milwaukee and we must confirm our value,” said Tim Duncan (Spurs).

Spurs gathered their fifth victory, while the Wizards can’t pride themselves with no less than 3 successes.

San Antonio is staying home and expected the visit of the Bucks in the next game, and Washington will return home for the dispute with Philadelphia.
